SECTIONS AND DISCIPLINES

  • Trekking: sections will take place in mid- to high-mountain forested areas (between 1,000–2,000 meters above sea level), filled with scenic trails.

  • MTB: sections will feature steep tracks and technical trails that MTB enthusiasts in the Elite and Aventura categories will truly enjoy. For the Juvenil and Promoción categories, the routes will be easier, following gentler tracks and trails with less elevation gain.

  • Urban Orienteering: an orienteering section through the town of Biescas, using a detailed urban map for all categories.

  • Vía Ferrata: a short and easy climbing route suitable for all skill levels. Exclusive to Elite and Aventura categories.

  • Ropes circuit: a special challenge featuring zip lines and rope bridges, available to all categories.

  • Canyoning: a simple, aquatic canyon descent designed to delight the senses. Exclusive to the Elite category. The canyoning gear must be handed over to the organizers in a bag per team before the start, and it will be transported by the organizers to the canyon entry point.

  • Laser Shooting: marksmanship test with our laser rifles for all categories.

*Courses and timing are carefully designed so that several teams from all categories can realistically complete the full course within the maximum allowed time.

*For Elite and Aventura categories: yes, the elevation gains are real — this is the Pyrenees! But don’t worry — most sections are designed with optional shortcuts, allowing the vast majority of teams to reach the finish line having experienced at least a portion of every section.

CARTOGRAPHY

In all sections except for the urban orienteering, maps based on Mapant cartography will be used, revised and updated by our team.

The symbology used in these maps follows the ISMTBOM standards of the IOF, providing more than enough detail for the development of an adventure race.

In the mountain biking sections, we have tried to show the rideability of paths and trails for a better route choice. In trekking sections, the vegetation has not been reviewed and is simplified into two types of forest, white and green.

Example Map MTB-Trekking

  • In the urban orienteering section, specific maps will be used following the ISSOM standards of the IOF.

  • The scales of the maps will vary between 1:4000 and 1:20000 depending on the sections.

  • All teams will receive 2 sets of waterproof maps for each section, and the maps will be provided during transitions at the beginning of each section.
